I listened to Radiohead’s “secret album” today…..eh. You can go here to find out how to do it yourself or watch the video above (and part 2 of said video) to hear all the crossfades from the different tracks. Basically if you combine OK Computer and In Rainbows and alternate the tracks (with a crossfade), it’s supposed to blend together like one super album. I’m on the fence about it. It would seem to be too much of a coincidence for this whole thing to be made up. Most of the songs match up very nicely with the alternate track on the other album, but there are also a few that simply don’t work at all. There were only a few songs that really sounded like they blended into each other tonally. For the most part, the fades just worked nicely between the one song ending and the next beginning. Except for those few situations, it sounded like two separate albums mashed together. Maybe Radiohead did match up some songs intentionally, but overall it’s either too sloppy to be taken seriously or just a huge coincidence that it works at all. My guess is that it’s one of those things, like Wizard of Oz/Dark Side of the Moon, that has just enough matching pieces to convince people it’s real, but too many inconsistencies to actually have been planned that way.
