It’s always an unnerving situation when you are in a car with someone and your not sure if they see the car stopped in front of you. You’re sitting there in the passenger seat as your friend is cruising you towards death and you’re thinking…

“do they know that that car is stopped? should i say something? what if i do say something and look stupid? They have to see it. I’m pretty sure I’m about to die”

..and then you pass the point where you would start braking if you were driving. you think…

“Uh, I would have started braking by now. I don’t think they see that car. What do I do? Shit, Shit I’m going to die!!!”

..it’s at that moment your friend brakes and you’re left having to explain why you just crapped your pants and screamed like a little girl for no apparent reason.

Winter Productivity

It’s hard to do work in the winter. I’ve taken an informal poll at work and everyone agrees. During the winter, getting out of bed is the hardest thing you will do that day. And I don’t mean that you have an easy job. You could be a brain surgeon, or an astronaut, but the most difficult thing you will have to do in that day is drag yourself out of bed and go to work. It could be that it’s so cold outside that the warmth of your bed is just too much for your body to relinquish, or it could be that it’s so close to the end of the year that you’re just burnt out and ready for a fresh start. Whatever it is, just doing work is hard. I would bet that if you looked at productivity numbers for most companies, you would see a big drop in December. I propose to up the amount of vacation time given to Americans, and to make the two weeks of Christmas and new years a yearly holiday. Sorry for all of you working in retail, restaurants, etc. You can just take off an extra 2 weeks throughout the rest of the year. There, problem solved
